On September 30, 2020, under the guidance and leadership of teachers Fang Peng, Xie Xuan, Zhang Na and Sun Xiaofang, a total of 41 students from junior and senior high school of Tsinghua Astronomy Association went to Yanqing Huahai Garden for astronomical observation。

The yearning for the starry sky has been flowing and continuing in the blood of mankind since ancient times, and it is no exception for the students in the steel jungle of the big city。Walk out of the colorful city lights and regain the most simple touch in the face of nature, which may be the original intention of the astronomical Association to choose to go out for astronomical observation, and it is also the concept of the Astronomical Association of Tsinghua High School。

The teachers and students arrived at the observation site at 9:30 am on the 30th to carry and debug the equipment and arrange accommodation。At 16:30 p.m., a large area of cloud appeared in the sky, which was a devastating disaster for astronomical observation activities。The starry sky disappeared, the astronomical knowledge explanation that was expected to be held outdoors could not be carried out, and the four telescopes specially prepared for the event completely lost the meaning of carrying。More than 40 people can only curl up under the small dome, organize classes in the room, and the teacher will explain the summer and autumn stars and the use of telescopes to the students。

In the situation of epidemic prevention and control，There were many difficulties in the preparation of the event，A lot of adjustments need to be made: for one thing，Epidemic prevention and control requirements need to be taken into account in the preparation of observation activities，From prevention and control in public places to disinfection during meals，All become something that needs additional consideration，The event plan has been revised several times;On the other hand，A freer way of observing than before，This year's event requires more careful organization and planning，This is not a small challenge for the students who have just taken over the management of the Astronomical Association。From preparing lessons in groups to distributing plans to classmates, everyone who participated in the activity made great efforts for this event。In the room, the students discussed and recalled all these things, and felt that the observation opportunity was not easy to give up!

In the early morning, the weather is still not beautiful, the students can only go back to their rooms to rest。Only a few students stayed to watch, hoping for a sudden clearing when the odds were slim。

In the morning, the students learned that after the rest during the epidemic period, the facilities of Huahai Garden were more perfect, and a spherical sky observatory was completed。The Astronomical Association quickly changed the itinerary and added activities to visit the observatory。Using the celestial Observatory, we can simulate the real starry sky on the huge sphere screen!Although there is a certain gap with the real sky, it is shocking enough for the students who participated in the observation activity for the first time。When the Milky Way with tens of thousands of stars fell to the students, reflected in the sky into layers of overlapping rings, no one did not sigh for the stars across thousands of years!Although you may not be able to witness the splendor of the stars, the moment you see the reflection of the stars in the sky is enough to make this observation activity completely different。

In addition, the students also had the honor to borrow the solar prominence mirror of Huahai Garden。Through the processing of special equipment, students got a good opportunity to observe the solar chromosphere!Although the solar activity rate is about to enter a low period, it is a rare experience to catch the last train to see the solar prominence。

At 1 PM on October 1, the personnel count was completed, and the return bus departed as scheduled, and the activity ended successfully。Although we could not see the stars, we also harvested different happiness。Between heaven and earth, the beetles clinging to the melon vine and the strong sweet potatoes uprooted have become unforgettable memories。Looking up at the stars is out of the love of life, no matter where there are stars, as long as the heart to feel, you can have unexpected harvest。
